Being developers on Archiva and Continuum, they were a natural choice for us :) Of course, we were careful to point out the alternatives, and did try to focus on the concepts and best practices rather than just how to use those tools in particular - and I think we were successful. 
With regard to reporting, being a Maven book it was better to focus on what Maven provides. Much more could have been written about Sonar, but I believe that deserves something dedicated. I still think that there is a time and place for both - particularly in the area of enforcement - so the value of the reports is not lost. Hope that helps!</description>
